Let us mourn in peace, KQ pilot family appeals

The family of the late Major (RTD) Daudi Kibati has appealed for privacy as it prepares to bury the late Kenya Airways pilot.


Major Kibati, a distinguished pilot died on Wednesday evening, exactly a week after evacuating stranded Kenyans from New York on 25th March 2020.


In a statement signed by the young brother Arnold Kibati, the family wants the media to stop commenting on the death, which they say is traumatizing them and terrorising them.

“At this defining moment of our lives, we beseech the media to desist from publishing unsubstantiated statements, innuendo, speculation and unverified information about the demise of Daudi.” the statement read in part.



“The family hereby requests for utmost privacy to enable us mourn and inter Major Kibati with the honour, ciivility, decorum and simplicity
This is what he stood for and wished all his entire life. Kindly bear with us.”

The family thanked Kenyans for the good will in comforting them.


“In the meantime, we sincerely thank you all for the overflowing condolence messages that we continue to receive.
May God reward and protect you.” concluded the statement.
