Locust situation now under control – Munya

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has assured the public that the ongoing locust operation has made great progress in just three days.

The CS on Friday visited Isiolo, Samburu, Ngaremera, Ndumuuru and Kachiuri which are some of the affected areas to access the locust invasion status.

Munya also said that the government is on the ground and to ensure the locust menace is dealt with completely.

“The Government is in control of the situation and there is continuous monitoring to ensure timely response,” he said.

He also thanked the ministry’s multi-institution technical team and other government agencies for showing great team work in the continuing operation until the situation is fully dealt with.

The National Treasury released Sh30million to facilitate the operation.

Munya is only days old in the Agriculture ministry after the president fired Mwangi Kiunjuri in Cabinet reshuffle.

Munya previously served as the Cabinet Secretary in the Trade docket.
