The burial proceedings of the late Matungu Member of Parliament Justus Murunga have been suspended pending the hearing of an application by Agnes Wangui who claims to be his mistress. – By Gerald Gekara.
Ms Wangui says the deceased fathered two children with her, and wants them included in the burial plans.
The court also directed a DNA test to be done on the two children to ascertain whether or not the children belonged to Murunga.
Danstan Omari, Ms Wangui’s lawyer said the MPs family wanted to sideline her kids out of their father’s property. She now wants the family to allow the children to his final send off.
The body of the first time legislator will be retained at the mourge, until the case is heard on November 26.
Murunga died on Saturday night after developing breathing complications. He was pronounced dead while being rushed to a local hospital in the region.
The MP is said to have left the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu prior to his circumstance.
Though a member of the Amani National Congress (ANC), Murunga was an ally of Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga Tanga movement.
