The late Rev. Charles Kituku Muthusi, the preacher found murdered inside a maize plantation in Kawethei, Machakos County, a week ago, has been laid to rest, as it has emerged that the main suspect is his nephew.
A solemn tone pervaded the funeral service as various speakers eulogized the deceased minister.
The deceased’s brother, Rev. Phillip Muthusi, said the suspect, who has since been arrested, is a known drug user who has been in and out of rehab for years.
The deceased’s widow, Eva Nkirote, stated that her husband’s death has left a huge void in her heart, but she will always cherish the time they spent together.
She went on to say that Charles was a ray of sunshine with a gentle soul.
A fortnight ago, the deceased was discovered murdered at a maize plantation near his family’s home in Kawethei.
The suspect is still being held by police as the investigation into the killing continues.
