Malawi President Dissolves Entire Cabinet

Malawi’s President, Lazarus Chakwera has fired the country’s whole government due to corruption allegations against many ministers.

President Chakwera said late Monday that he had decided to let the three ministers and other public officials accused of corruption to stand trial.

In a nationwide address, Chakwera declared, “I have dissolved my whole cabinet, effective immediately, and all cabinet powers revert to my office until I announce a reconfigured cabinet in two days.”

Minister of Lands Kezzie Msukwa, who was detained last month in a bribery case, will be excluded from the restructured cabinet, he added.
