Man arraigned after waving toy pistols to scare residents

John Waithaka Fernandes has been released on Ksh. 100,000 bond by a Nairobi Court. Waithaka was before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku. – By Meshack Makau.


Mr. Waithaka was facing charges of preparing to commit a Felony suspected to be robbery. On January 18, 2021 Waithaka was arrested along Hospital Road in Upper Hill.


The accused was in possession of three toy pistol imitations and one black cable. According to the police report, members of the public reported that a suspicious looking man had been spotted in the area.


Waithaka had intentionally showed the toy pistol to members of the public to scare them. This prompted the members of public to call for police interventions.

Mr. Waithaka was arrested by police officers from Capitol Hill police station and placed in custody.
