Man Arraigned In Court For Illegal Possession Of Firearm

A man believed to be a member of a gang group terrorizing members of the public in Nairobi has been arraigned in court for illegal possession of firearm.

According to the police, Judge Kojo Odera was on May 17, 2024, for being in possession of ammunition without a firearm certificate contrary to section 3 of the Penal Code.

Police allege that Odera was arrested at Mirema drive in Kasarani within Nairobi where without any reasonable excuse was found in possession of 10 rounds of ammunition of 9mm, one round ammunition of 7.62 by 39m special caliber.

The said ammunitions raised reasonable presumption that Odera intended to use them in a manner prejudicial to public order.

Police further say that Odera was in possession of imitation firearm with an intent to commit an offence.

He was also charged with obtaining Ksh 60,000 from a victim namely John Waithaka by falsely pretending he would facilitate his son’s employment at the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Appearing before Magistrate Robinson Odieki at Milimani Law Courts, the accused denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh 200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000.
