A man has been charged with cyber harassment for allegedly publishing defamatory content on Facebook targeting former Nairobi Governor Evans Odhiambo Kidero.
The suspect Bonface Omondi Nyangla appeared before Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego, facing accusations of posting derogatory comments about Kidero and Evance MC Ochieng, on April 20, 2025.
According to the prosecution, Nyangla made statements in Luo that allegedly depicted Kidero as easily manipulated in violation of Section 27(1)(b) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act, 2018.
“The accused posted offensive and insulting remarks intended to damage the complainant’s reputation,” the prosecutor told the court.
Nyangla was arrested on April 25, 2025, and remained in custody since his arrest.
In his plea to be released on lenient bond terms he told the magistrate that he was the sole breadwinner for his family and that his children were due to return to school, and they depend entirely on him.
Principal Magistrate Alego granted him a bond of Ksh 1 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 400,000.
