Celestine Adhiambo Oyeko, a mother of four, was scheduled to be charged with attempted murder at the Makadara law courts on Friday, March 31 but the case changed after the ODPP discovered the victim had died.

A 36-year-old woman is facing murder charges after allegedly throwing her boyfriend from a storey building in Ruaraka, Nairobi.

The lover died of injuries at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Celestine Adhiambo Oyeko, a mother of four, was scheduled to be charged with attempted murder at the Makadara law courts on Friday, March 31 but the case changed after the ODPP discovered the victim had died.

She is accused of assaulting Braiton Litoro before throwing him from the building where they shared a room.

However, after police informed the prosecutors that the victim had died, the Director of Public Prosecutions requested more time to amend the charges.

Ms. Oyeko will now be charged with causing Litoro’s death on March 15 in Baba Ndogo.

She was to be charged with unlawfully attempting to kill Litoro by seriously assaulting him, alongside another person who was not present in court.

Her new lover, the accomplice, is still at large, and police are on the hunt for him.

Ms. Oyeko will be held in police custody until April 5, when she will be charged with murder in Nairobi’s High Court.

Ms. Oyeko had decided to end her relationship with Litoro and had informed him before changing the padlocks at their shared house.

She told him not to pay the rent anymore as she was not interested in living with him.

Ms. Oyeko had returned to the house with her new lover and found Litoro in a vacant house after returning home at around 11 pm.

The two new lovers are said to have jointly assaulted and caused him serious injuries before throwing him down.

The charge sheet did not indicate from what floor. Litoro’s father found a crowd milling around a man lying unconscious on the road.

He curiously moved closer and discovered that it was his son.

He enquired and members of the public informed him that the man had been assaulted by his girlfriend and her lover.
