Catholic Priest Killer Gets 30 Years

Michael Muthini Mutunga has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of Catholic Priest Fr. Michael Maingi Kyengo.

Through his lawyer, Mutunga revealed how the priest had groomed Mutunga as a favor for paying his school fees.

According to Kirimi, the priest began visiting the accused’s home in September 2019 and the two would have meals.

Mutunga then revealed in a series of confessions, how he was allegedly raped by the priest.

He claimed the priest told him he did it because Mutunga was unable to repay his kindnesses.

However, moments after the incident, the priest then handed him HIV/AIDS medications, indicating that he was taking the medication and had infected Mutunga with the virus.

Angered by the revelation, it was said that Mutunga took a knife and stabbed the priest to death.

Michael Muthini Mutunga then buried the priest in a small grave near the seasonal river Mashamba in Makima, Mbeere South.

On October 5, the priest vanished from his parents’ Tala house, and his death was discovered on October 16.
