Court sentences pedophile to serve 40 years in prison after he was found guilty of defiling a 9-year-old child.

The pedophile identified as Morris Obondo was convicted of defiling the minor after the prosecution told Siaya Magistrate’s Court that he committed the heinous act on February 20, 2022.

According to witness statements which were submitted before Siaya Magistrate Benjamin Limo, the man is said to have lured the minor and dragged her into a bush near Sireme Market in Gem Yala sub-county where he repeatedly abused her.

The Court was told that the minor was on her way to the market on the material day, when Obondo, who was on a motorbike offered her a lift to the market and on reaching the market, he declined to stop and instead sped off.

The witness statement further indicated that the minor was only rescued by a group of youths who heard the cries of the minor and rushed to the scene. They saved the minor from the perpetrator and reported the matter before the suspect was arrested.

While reading the sentence, the Magistrate said that a 40-year jail term would serve a deterrence effect.
