Man Sentenced To Six Months In Probation For Forgery

A middle-aged man has been sentenced to six months probation by a Nairobi court.

Bishar Maulid Hassan was arrested on August 7 at The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on his way from South Africa.

The prosecution urged the accused had forged his emergency certificate.

According to the family, Bishar’s life was in danger back in South Africa and his father took a loan in order to get him back to the country.

During the mitigation he however told the court that he had not eaten anything since he was in custody upon inquiry, it turned out that he ate but little.

‘Have you eaten or not? ‘ asked the magistrate. ‘This morning I have taken only one a cup of tea with one mandazi and last night I ate ugali with cabbage. ‘ expressed the accused.

Bishar is to serve his 6 months probation here in Milimani with an option of being taken to his home county in Tana River.
