Russian President Vladimir Putin’s has urged its troops not to let anyone off the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, where the city’s last Ukrainian troops have been fending off a Russian assault.
Rather, during a televised meeting, he urged his forces to “block off this industrial area so that not even a fly can escape.”
Storming the massive industrial area, where more than 2,000 Ukrainian servicemen are said to be stationed, would be “impractical,” he added.
Apart from the plant, Putin praised Russia’s “liberation” of Mariupol after Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed him that Russian forces now control the Ukrainian port city.
