Before UhuRuto fished him from the University of Nairobi lecture halls, Dr Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i was a little-known person.
Once conferred with the benefit of CS Information and Communications, Matiang’i held the position and used it to grow in stature and physicality.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto desired a perfect replacement for Dr Bitange Ndemo, the powerful Kibaki-era PS from Kisii.
They got a younger clone of Bitange, trained by the undisputed greatest brand of Omugusii, Simeon Nyachae Nyandusi.
Dr Matiang’i’s first brief was to cut the mainstream media to size. There was a misplaced belief at the core of UhuRuto gava that the media was pro-CORD, a coalition owned by Raila Odinga.
Matiang’i decided or was ordered to launch the Government Advertising Agency(GAA) to tame the media. He succeeded. Today, the Nation and Standard are limping in the ICU over the Matiang’i 2013 sting.
Once he had crippled the media, and thanks to his bully nature, UhuRuto shipped Matiang’i, now noticeably overweight, to the Ministry of Education.
Education terrorist
Either by design or genetic formulation, Matiang’i carries the demeanour of a restless soul.
He landed at Jogoo House with a bang. Within six months, secondary schools had taken note and adjusted to the Matiang’i ways.
It was either his way or the express exit. He was feared and loathed by teachers, owners of private schools.
Credit to him, Matiang’i restored the integrity of Kenyan exams.
Sadly, he murdered the parallel degree programs that fed the university system.
Having himself worked at the University of Nairobi as a junior or mid-level lecturer, Matiangi harboured a few grudges that he went ahead and dispensed…
Before his Cabinet appointment, the University of Nairobi wanted to sack him over the delay in releasing examination marks.
But credit to him, throughout his teaching career, he was never accused of the vice of trading marks for the finer things of life…
Then the big call. To destroy the career of the then DP William Ruto.
Inexplicably, Uhuru, like the latter-day Ruto (Gachagua chronicles), decided to appoint Matiang’i the unconstitutional DP.
Matiang’i became the Prime Minister, Deputy President and Internal (eternal) Security CS. A Super CS.
To add to the insult and insolence, they would refuse to shake Ruto’s hand humiliating him further.
During the dark anti-Ruto crusades, Raila Odinga watched gleefully, controlling the Government from his Capital Hill political slaughter office.
Matiang’i had access to air transport used by then President Uhuru Kenyatta, well-serviced limousines…as his DP used proceeds of his chicken and egg business to service jalopies afforded to him
Not that it was Matiangi’s fault. But there is no evidence to suggest he warned Uhuru of the dangers of his action to national cohesion
Then there is the little matter of the Yala River murders, the execution and dismembering of Indian ICT murders, the murder of IEBC IT boss Msando and his innocent girlfriend.
Unverified reports suggest that some pending bills were hastily paid between August and September 2022, and billions were carted away. This was the preceding transition period.
His detractors also allege that his fingerprints were found in the Ruaraka land…bought or sold by the Ministry of Education. They say a file is complete and waiting to be forwarded to ODPP from the yellow house.
So why should Kenyans vote for Matiang’i?
He has a presidential frame, is rough, can lie or misinform without getting caught, and critically, he knows when to do a handshake.
When Ruto and his then-ruthless DP put down the Bible at Kasarani, the first person they hanged was Matiang’i.
The police and DCI officers he used to command chased him like a rabbit. To his known and unknown homes.
When Matiang’i realised there was nowhere to hide (his boss UhuRuto was also in hiding), he retreated to his Kisii ancestors.
Armed with bananas, sugarcane, avocado and other niceties, they stormed the State House and pleaded for their share. They even offered to discipline him for the horrors and pain he had caused the President..
Bang! Matiang’i got a deal. Within three days, he fled Kenya like Koigi Wa Wamwere, Mukaru Nganga, James Orengo, and the legendary Ngugi Wa Thiong’o.
The Kenyatta factor
Matiang’i is being pushed down the throats of Kenyans by the powerful Kenyatta dynasty.
They trust him because they created him. And can also destroy him
Muhoho Kenyatta, the leader and king of the multi-trillion Kenyatta enterprise, is pushing for Matiang’i over fears to their investments…
They got a scare when Rigathi Gachagua, Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ichungwa alleged that they invaded their Northland’s land..
The hidden Uhuru hand
There is no evidence to suggest Uhuru has not/been working with President Ruto.
Matiang’i may be a red erring of sorts, to divide and assign Omugusii votes and force a Ruto 2027 tutam
Matiang’i will one day be the President of Kenya. That day, however, is not 11th August 2027
But be sure, Matiangi, dressed in a blue checked shirt, and a puffer jacket, will call a Press conference on 10th August 2027. Flanked by Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Bonny Khalwale, and Dan Maanzo to say ballots had been stuffed overnight at Langata, Bondo, Barwessa, Chemalingot, and Kesses.
