MCAs Lobby To Rename Mbagathi Way After Raila Odinga

Peter Imwatok, the minority whip in the Nairobi county assembly, plans to propose a resolution to rename Mbagathi Way in Nairobi after ODM leader Raila Odinga.

According to the Makongeni MCA, the move is intended to honor and recognize the former Prime Minister’s contribution to the state’s prosperity and growth.

Raila’s unselfish sacrifice in advocating good governance, democratic space, and infrastructural development was cited by him.

This week, the motion will be introduced in the county assembly.

Raila has had a significant impact on the growth of the Kenyan state, both democratically and economically, according to Imwatok.

“ We have been in the streets with him leading from the front. It pains us that people who didn’t do anything to impact society positively are being appreciated more than those who sacrificed more including giving their own live’s from youthful age and happiness for the good of our country,” Imwatok said.

Raila’s handshakes with both President Uhuru Kenyatta and retired President Mwai Kibaki, according to Imwatok, have led to the country’s restoration of peace and unity.

“It should be noted that the African Union recently named him as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in honor of his decades of service,” he added.

This isn’t the first time legislators have proposed renaming Mbagathi Way in Raila’s honor.

Muturi Kigano, a Kangema MP, proposed in June that the ODM party leader’s road in Nairobi be named after him.
