Media Personality Kuli Roberts Dies At 49

Famed South Africa TV presenter and actress Nomakula “Kuli” Roberts has died aged 49.

A close friend who did not want to be mentioned confirmed that the well-known media personality passed away on Wednesday evening around 10 pm just before a radio interview.

Before her death, she was the editor of Drum Magazine, Fashion and Beauty. She was also a columnist of Sunday World.

Kuli was also known for her activism for people living with albinism and her no-holds-barred approach to calling out wrongdoings in the entertainment industry.

She made headlines last year when she expressed her political ambitions and joined the African Transformation Movement (ATM) ahead of the local municipal elections. At the time she was running for candidacy in ward 65 in Tshwane.

She acted in several productions, most recently in the Netflix original movie Angeliena.

A final tweet on her social media pages, posted at around 7pm on Wednesday read: “Love you, Des. All the best!”

Her cause of death has not yet been revealed and her family is expected to share the official news soon.
