Residents of Oganga Village in North Kadem within Migori county are staring at life-threatening hunger following the invasion of their crops by wild animals.
Residents here say that they lost tonnes of maize and rice before harvest for two consecutive seasons.
They say the animals invade the crops at night when people are asleep making it difficult to trace and trap.
Some farmers who had anticipated bumpers harvest from two 2 acres of maize in the last season were disappointed to get less than a bag.
They said that the trail of destruction left behind by the primates which they suspect are straying from the neighboring Ruma game reserve will tighten the grip of hunger if a possible solution is not sought.
James Wamwara, a Kenya Wildlife Services ( KWS) Official attached to Sori urged local administrators to liaise with their offices to contain the situation.
