Members of the Migori County Assembly have unanimously impeached the Speaker, Hon. Charles Oyugi Owino.
MCA representing Kaler Hon. Thomas Akungo moved the resolution on the floor of the House, citing mismanagement of the County Assembly, poor working conditions, MCA and staff welfare, and a lack of accountability.
Addressing the media following the Assembly sessions, the MCAs assured the public that with Hon. David Mathews Chacha as the Acting Speaker, the House is likely to be on track.
This impeachment move came just a few hours after the Hon. Members passed the Migori County Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2024.
This will release a sum of Kshs 11, 473, 037, 521 from the Migori County Revenue Fund account for services rendered during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.
Recurrent expenditure is Ksh 7, 329, 026,554, while development is Ksh 4,144,010, 967.
