Miguna: Firm No On GMO Maize

Dr. Miguna Miguna

Miguna Miguna, a lawyer, has criticized President William Ruto’s administration for reintroducing GMOs into the nation.

Miguna called the action “reckless,” claiming that the people should have been consulted.

“I say a firm NO to the mad rush to import GMO Maize and other foods to Kenya. I believe that it’s irresponsible and amounts to recklessness on the part of the Kenya Kwanza government”

He said that the government should have allowed more time for public debate and involvement before reintroducing GMOs.

“Hard-working Kenyan farmers grow NUTRITIOUS ORGANIC maize. They deserve our support. Craving GMO ugali is both unpatriotic and economic SABOTAGE to our farmers. GMO seeds will kill Kenyan farmers and their livelihoods in 5 years! Liberate your mind!”

Miguna joins a growing number of national politicians that oppose the reintroduction of GMOs.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance spoke out against the move on Saturday.

According to Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, no amount of starvation should let GMO back into the nation.
