The body of David Koenig, an amateur mixed martial arts fighter who was last seen on Feb. 8, 2020, has been discovered by a man seeking for deer antlers in Missouri.

According to the Branson Police Department, the human remains were located on Dec. 22 in a forested area in Branson, and a forensic odonatologist was able to establish the human bones belonged to Koenig.

The majority of Koenig’s remains, as well as other personal items, were discovered during the search.

According to the police department, “a forensic pathologist’s examination of the remains indicated that there was no trauma and that the death did not appear to be the consequence of foul play.”

Tracy Koenig, Koenig’s mother, spoke up about her son’s disappearance in September. He was said to be sleeping at the Peach Tree Inn, a modest motel a few blocks from Branson’s Highway 76 entertainment strip. It’s unclear where he went after that. According to various published reports, Koenig went missing in March 2020.

Tracy Koenig expressed her gratitude to everyone who assisted in the search for her son.

“Please do not mistake us for ungrateful,” she wrote.

“Thank you all so much for not only being a big support, but also for going above and beyond by physically searching for Dave, helping us pay for billboards and private investigators, sharing my postings, calling in tips, and passing out fliers across the country. Dave would be overjoyed and ecstatic!”
