Nigerian Afrobeats star Mohbad, known as Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died in a hospital last month due to a negligence injection by a nursing assistant.
The 27-year-old’s death sparked grief among his fans, who demanded a thorough investigation.
The incident began with Mohbad, a married father, attempting to strike his childhood friend Oluwatosin Owoduni, also known as Primeboy.
The wound became swollen and Mohbad complained of “unbearable pains.”
Ayobami Sadiq, another friend, called nursing assistant Feyisayo Ogedengbe to treat Mohbad.
On 12 September, Ogedengbe injected Mohbad with three different drugs, leading to vomiting and convulsing.
Mohbad was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
The ongoing police investigation found that Ogedengbe was not qualified to give the injections.
The charges against Ogedengbe and Owoduni are yet to be revealed, but Mr. Sadiq is being held for conspiracy to commit a felony.
Afrobeats star Naira Marley and music promoter Sam Larry have also been arrested following allegations of bullying and harassment of Mohbad.
