The Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the powerful ministry of Defense Peter Odoyo is not new to controversy.
Odoyo was sacked by then President Moi for threatening to reveal “very nasty things” about President Moi’s preferred successor Uhuru Kenyatta.
He will now serve in Uhuru’s Government as an assistant minister of sorts.
This was in 2002. Odoyo was then Nyakach MP.
After the 1997 elections, the Nyakach legislator was appointed an Assistant Minister in the Ministry of for Foreign affairs….at the behest of Raila.
The “beans” Odoyo spill were part of political propaganda by Raila to stop Moi from anointing Uhuru as his preferred successor.
Odoyo was and still remains a close Raila ally. He is expected to play a key role in 2022, when Raila is expected to contest for the Presidency.
Then, Odoyo was a darling of the media over his contribution in Parliament. He was also very vocal over perennial flooding in Nyakach.
