Moi University workersdirected to resume work despite salary arrears

Moi University administration has directed its staff to resume their duties despite not receiving their salaries.

In a statement dated Sunday, March 16, the university’s acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kiplagat Togut, urged the staff to continue discharging their duties as usual while the university works to resolve the salary delay.

“We are all aware of the financial challenges facing the University that have led to a delay in payment of the February 2025 salary. Efforts are being made by the University Management and Council to resolve the issues responsible for the delay,” read the statement.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of staff discharging their duties as usual so that the planned examinations proceed as scheduled.

Further, in line with this, the Vice-Chancellor issued a directive to all Chairs of Departments to ensure that the planned examinations are administered as scheduled.

At the same time, Professor Kiplagat provided an alternative for Moi University staff who had indicated that they could not report to the examination centers due to lack of transport fare.

“Following the concern raised by some members of staff that they lack funds to cater for transport to the workplace, a University bus will be availed on Monday 17th March, 2025 at 7.00 a.m. at the College of Health Science to transport the affected staff to the Main Campus. Preference will be given to staff who are scheduled to invigilate examinations,” said the university’s acting Vice Chancellor.

Furthermore, the university head thanked all staff for their commitment and patience as the University Management and Council work to resolve the salary payment issues.
