A middle-aged woman’s body was discovered in a bush in Mombasa County’s Bombolulu Estate.
According to witnesses, her throat was slit and her body was discovered a few metres away from a pool of blood.
They have only identified her as Mama Afrika, a woman who once owned several rental houses in Bombolulu.
According to preliminary evidence, she was murdered on Wednesday night before her body was dumped in the thicket.
According to locals, the woman is always seen operating between Kisimani and Bombolulu areas along the Mombasa – Malindi motorway, and is well known to a group of sex workers in the area.
Residents have now urged authorities to beef up security, citing a similar incident a month ago in which another body was discovered nearby.
The victim is said to have been raped late at night before being dumped in the thicket. Police are yet to move her body to the mortuary as investigations into her killers begin.
