Mother, Son Elected MCAs In Nakuru

After being proclaimed winners for MCA seats in Nakuru County, a woman and her son-in-law will work together for the next five years.

Mwangi Ngarama and his mother-in-law Grace Mwathi ran on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) platforms and won the seats.

Mwathi ran for the MCA position in 2017 but came in third place, but she did not give up.

She has served in the Nakuru County Assembly as a nominated MCA.

Ngarama, on the other hand, was elected to the county legislature for the first time in 2013.

Lilian Mwathi, Ngarama’s wife and Mwathi’s daughter, has been working as a clerk in the Nakuru County Assembly for the last five years.

“I feel honoured by the trust the people of Bahati have bestowed on me to lead them for the next five years. It is even a bigger honour that my son-in-law has also been elected,” Mwathi said.

Mwathi said despite being in the County Assembly with her daughter she did her best to ensure that they would not sit in any committee at the same time.

“We shall do the same this time to ensure my daughter and her husband do not find ourselves in the same committee,” said Mwathi.
