Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, is said to be interested in signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The 24-year-old Manchester United right-back has fallen behind Diogo Dalot in the pecking order at Old Trafford, appearing in only two of the club’s last eight Premier League games.
Wan-Bissaka is commended for his defensive abilities, but he has been chastised for his lack of offensive quality, having failed to provide an assist in 26 games across all competitions this season.
United star Paul Scholes has described the Englishman as a “fantastic defender” but is “useless on the ball,” while Arsenal legend Paul Merson previously stated, “Wan-Bissaka is a very excellent defender, but he will not get you seven or eight assists a season.”
Wan-Bissaka joined United for £50 million from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019 and has since made 126 appearances in all competitions for the club. His current contract expires in June 2024, but the Red Devils have the option to extend it for another year.
Mourinho is reportedly interested in bringing Wan-Bissaka to Roma, according to The Sun. Since his hiring last summer, the manager has been connected with a number of right-backs, and has frequently used on-loan Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the position.
Wan-Bissaka is reported to be waiting to hear if he is in Erik ten Hag’s plans at Old Trafford before deciding on his future. According to recent rumors, the new leader is not interested in holding the job.
