Members of Parliament have summoned State House officials to explain why former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office has been operating without funds.

“We are instructing our clerks to write to the State House Comptroller to come and appear to the committee on why the former president’s office is not receiving its perks,” Implementation Committee Chair Raphael Wanjala said on Tuesday.

The Committee took notice with concern of remarks made by the Spokesperson to the Office of the Fourth President, Kanze Dena, indicating that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was funding his own official office.

“We are not going to allow that to happen yet we appropriate money as Parliament,” added Wanjala.

Although no specific dates have been set for State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito’s appearance before Parliament, MPs want State House representatives to appear to ensure that the allocated money are made accessible to the former President.
