Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the controversial son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, is once again in the spotlight.
This time, however, he is not spewing anything offensive, but rather requesting forgiveness.
Muhoozi stated in a tweet on Thursday evening that he has never had a beef with Kenyan President William Ruto.
He did, however, ask the new Head of State to pardon him if he had inadvertently stepped on his toes in any scenario.
“I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto. If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. God bless East Africa,” he wrote, attached with two photos of the President.
This comes a fortnight after the Ugandan army man discussed Uganda’s military plan to allegedly “capture Nairobi” in a series of tweets.
Many Kenyans were outraged by his remarks, which sparked a Twitter war between the two neighbors, prompting Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary nominee Alfred Mutua to meet with Uganda High Commissioner to Kenya Amb. Dr Hassan Galiwango.
Muhoozi’s father, President Museveni, promoted him to the rank of General in response to his controversial tweets.
However, Museveni released a statement asking “our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander of Land Forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country.”
