Nairobi Chapel (Ngong Road) led by Pastor Nick Korir has come out in solidarity to commend the recent display of youth activism in Kenya during the Finance Bill Protests.
Pastor Korir acknowledged the critical juncture Kenya faces and applauded this generation’s courage in speaking out against injustice and demanding accountability from leaders and institutions.
“Never before has this nation seen young, smart, educated Kenyans; rise above the tribal, religious, political, and social divide; leverage on technology and step out of their comfort zones to come out together in one of the most powerful displays of patriotism.
We pause today to notice that this nation is in a defining moment … We pause today to applaud this Generation !”
Pastor Korir thanked the protestors for maintaining order and respecting the property and safety of their fellow citizens.
“We are proud of you because the protests were orderly. Thank you for respecting the lives and property of fellow Kenyans: you did not burn tyres, obstruct roads, vandalise shops, destroy cars, etc. Thank you for your RESPECT”
Pastor Korir condemned the reported heavy-handed response by security forces, arbitrary arrests, and the loss of life during the protests.
“We condemn the heavy-handed response of the security forces, the arbitrary arrests, and most importantly, the loss of a precious life and we appeal for justice to prevail. Listen: take a humble posture, stop chest-thumping – because these too are citizens of this great nation, and they, too, need your respect.”
Drawing inspiration from the Bible (1 Timothy 4:12), Pastor Korir encouraged the youth to remain strong.
”Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity – 1 Timothy 4:12″
