Humphrey Mmbihi Magui, John Edwin Muchoki Kiema, Antony Mugweru Micheru, Paul Kanyua Karanja, and Wanjiru Wangari Gituku were charged with stealing and possessing stolen items.

According to the charge sheet, they took 20 urine specimen collection containers valued at Ksh184,000 from the Ministry of Health.

” You are charged with stealing 20 boxes of Urine Specimen Containers valued at Kes 184,000 the property of the ministry of health.” reads the charge sheet.

Muchoki, Mugweru, and Kanyu were separately charged with dishonestly causing the stealing of the medical supplies and being in possession of same.

They are accused of committing the crimes on February 21, 2023, in the Kilimani region of Nairobi County.

They asked the court, through their counsel, to grant them reasonable bail terms.

The arraignment of the five accused follows their arrest on Tuesday by the Nairobi City County Enforcement team for allegedly possessing healthcare items and supplies.

Muchoki, Mugweru, and Kanyu were arrested while driving a Toyota van loaded with stolen pharmaceuticals that were just marked off by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for distribution to public health facilities.
