Engineer: How Road Redesign Cost Tax Payers Ksh 33Million

Abdul Rashid Sheikh Mohamed, the engineer, testified on Tuesday about how the re-designing of the Kamukuywa-Kaptama-Kapsokwony-Sirisia Road cost Sh33 million.

The witness testified in court that the redesigning resulted in variations in tender costs and additional land acquisition.

According to the witness, under procurement law, if the price of a project rises by 25%, it must be re-advertised. This allegedly did not occur.

He also testified that he took over the project after his predecessor had approved the redesign.

Engiconsult Consulting Engineers had worked on the road for Ksh 33m

Following his graft case, Kamau was suspended from the Cabinet on March 28, 2015.

The prosecution led by Verah Hamisi and Kahoro Terry put on a spirited fight to convince the Court that indeed the accused ex-minister should be put on his defense to answer his charges.

The case will be heard again on November 16, 2022.
