A section of matatu operators using the Waiyaki Way route blocked the highway while protesting and demanding that authorities allocate them a bus stop to drop and pick up passengers.
By 7.45 am, the operators were still blocking the road causing a major jam on the lower road.
They claimed since the construction of the expressway was completed they have been under harassment from police over claims of blocking the road while picking and dropping off passengers.
The operators used three matatus to block the route while demanding the allocation of a bus stop for their operations.
This caused a huge traffic jam towards the city center as police tried to get a solution on the same. Police have advised motorists to avoid the route for now.
