Transport Cabinet Secretary Eng. James Macharia today made an impromptu visit to the Nairobi Expressway to establish progress on the turn key project.
The project, contracted to the China Road and Bridge Construction is now at 30 percent completion with the contractor focusing on key installments to complete the road within the stipulated December 2021 deadline.
CS Macharia re-affirmed the government’s commitment to fulfil key infrastructure goals so as to push the country’s development agenda forward.
The construction process has created a pain-staking traffic jam along Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway. Transport CS Macharia has however begged Kenyans for perseverance for the greater good, to allow the contractor to finish the major works.
Major works that included a viaduct from the southern bypass interchange to the Westlands area are well ahead of scheduled time.
The China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) have employed technology to carry out what is now known as the fastest road construction project in the nation’s history.
