Nairobi, Mombasa record new positive Coronavirus cases, country’s total tally at 336

Kenya has recorded 16 more positive cases of coronavirus raising the total number of infections to 336By Prudence Wanza

11 of the new cases were from Nairobi while 5 were from Mombasa and none had a history of travel.

The new cases are from 946 samples tested in the country in the last 24 hours.

While addressing the media, Health CAS Rashid Aman said that all the new cases had been picked by the ministry’s surveillance team.

The new infections in Nairobi are spread across estates as follows; Dandora 5, City Park 2, Parklands 2, Eastleigh 1.

In Mombasa cases are spread across; Kiembeni 1, Centi Kumi1, Stadium 1, Msikiti Nuru1 and Mulaloni 1.

The cases in Dandora have been attributed to one case who was asymptomatic.

The government is now tracing 887 contacts of the new cases.

Consequently, five more patients have been discharged from quarantine centers bringing the total number of recoveries to 95.

The number of deaths in the country has remained at 14.

At the same time, Kenyans have also been encouraged to maintain a nutritious and a healthy diet in order to boost immunity.

According to Agriculture CAS, Ann Nyaga the high number of cases in urban areas like Nairobi and Mombasa might be attributed the lifestyle of eating fast foods which do not meet nutritional standards to the body.

The CAS said the ministry will start a campaign for 1 million houses to establish kitchen gardens and the process will be fully guided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
