Nakuru County On The Spot Over Exhumation Of Bodies

The Nakuru County Government is investigating claims that bodies from the Nakuru South Cemetery were exhumed to make room for more burials on the property.

Concerns have been raised by locals who say that coffin lids discovered just two feet below the surface of old cemeteries have been unearthed.

According to locals, the Nakuru County started excavating bodies on Monday night to make room for families to bury their loved ones.

A spot check at the South Cemetery on Thursday afternoon revealed hollow graves, some scattered skeletons, and decomposed human remains.

A video making rounds on social media, captured on Monday, shows human skeletons being stashed in a sack.

“Kwa sasa tunaona kuna mifupa, ni ya watu hii, wanachimbua, huku chini kuna watu wanangoja ikijaa wanarudi mwanzo,” Kevin Kamau, a Nakuru resident, said.
