National Youth Council to Host ‘Skill Up Africa 2025’ in Celebration of World Youth Skills Day

Nairobi, Kenya – The National Youth Council (NYC) of Kenya is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the 10th anniversary of World Youth Skills Day with a mega two-day event dubbed Skill Up Africa 2025 — a festival of empowerment, innovation, and digital transformation aimed at Kenya’s youth.

The event will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on July 15 and 16, 2025, running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. According to NYC, this landmark gathering will focus on “Equipping the Next Generation,” “Innovation through AI,” and “Embracing Digital Skills,” all crucial themes in preparing young people for the future of work.

“Wacha story za ‘ningejua’. This is your moment to gain skills, network kama kawaida, and add value to yourself,” NYC said in a spirited tweet that has since gone viral.

Entry is free to the general public, removing all financial barriers for youth to access career-building resources, hands-on workshops, and expert-led panel discussions in AI, technology, and digital entrepreneurship.

Participants are encouraged to scan a QR code shared by NYC to reserve their slots, with the council urging young people to invite friends and make the most of the opportunity.

NYC CEO and organizers say the goal is not just to talk about skills development but to deliver tangible, actionable learning experiences to Kenya’s dynamic youth population.

“This is more than an event. It’s a launchpad for the next generation of African innovators,” one NYC official said.

World Youth Skills Day is marked annually on July 15, as declared by the United Nations, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
