President William Ruto has reassured Kenya’s commitment to clean energy.

He was speaking at State House in Nairobi on Thursday when he met with executives from Eni Spa, led by its Director General of Natural Resources Guido Brusco.

He stated that the country is eager to collaborate with organizations that support green energy.
“The government is committed to developing green jobs,” the President stated.

In Kenya, the Italian energy company specialized in biofuel made from castor oil farmed in the counties of Baringo, Makueni, Nakuru, and Mombasa.

Castor oil is currently grown on 40,000 acres of land, with ambitions to expand production to 200,000 acres. It claims that this will result in the creation of more than 200,000 employment opportunities.

“We commit to providing Eni Spa with between 250,000 and 300,000 acres of land in marginal areas for the production of biofuels,” said the President.

The firm has also expressed interest in geothermal, solar and waste energy, and the manufacture of e-bikes in the country.
