Nelson Havi Among 8 PSC Picks For Solicitor General

Former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has been shortlisted among eight other candidates for the position of Solicitor General.

The Public Service Commission published a list of the eight interviews scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, December 13 and 14, respectively, at the Commission House in Nairobi.

“Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on the date and time indicated. Candidates should be at the venue at least fifteen (15) minutes before the starting time,” PSC said in a public notice.

Markaren Kigen Sorobit, Shadrack John Mose, Beatrice Adhiambo Akuno, Nelson Havi, Paul Lilan, Beatrice Mugeni Meso, Stephen Ochieng Mallowah, and George Kithi are the eight.

PSC is asking the public to share any relevant information about any of the shortlisted candidates by December 8. The information is to be shared via affidavits addressed to the CEO or via email to hodrands@publicservice.go.ke.

Kennedy Ogeto, who was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta for a five-year term in March 2018, currently holds the position.

Ogeto succeeded Njee Muturi, who was promoted to State House Deputy Chief of Staff as a result of the changes.

The solicitor general is appointed for a five-year term with the option to renew.

As a result, Ogeto’s term will end in March 2023.

The Solicitor General is the accounting officer for the State Law Office and the Department of Justice, both of which are currently led by Attorney General Justin Muturi.
