NEMA to hire new Director General

National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has announced the vacancy of the Director General (DG).

Through an advertisement NEMA outlined the key responsibilities and qualifications of the DG for a contractual period of 4 years.

“The NEMA Board is seeking to recruit a competent and visionary leader of good professional and ethical standing to fill the position of Director- General,” read a part of the advert.

Among the qualifications include a Bachelors degree and a master’s degree from a recognized University in the fields of Environmental Law, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or a relevant social science and at least 15 years working experience in the relevant field 5 of which must be at a senior managerial level.

Some of the key responsibilities of the Director General will include; Providing overall day leadership and administration of the operations of the Authority, ensuring coordinated implementation, effective monitoring and enforcement of environmental management policies, laws and programs, and ensuring quality service, cost effective management of resources and promoting institutional accountability among other roles.

The Director General will also report to the Board of Directors, take up the role of the Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Board of Directors, and oversee all the strategic, operational and financial performance of the authority.

They will also submit an application letter accompanied by the Bio-data Form, CV with full details of education and professional qualifications including names and details of three referees.

Valid clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, EACC, DCI and CRB are also a requirement.
