The government has unveiled a series of new appointments across various state agencies and boards, signaling a fresh wave of leadership that will guide these institutions for the next few years. The appointments were announced through a gazette notice dated April 25, 2025.
In the Ministry of Agriculture, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe named John Gikandi Thongori to the Board of Directors of the National Cereals and Produce Board for a three-year term. Kagwe also renewed the appointment of Prof. Ezekiel Kiprop to continue serving on the Pest Control Products Board for another three years.
At the Ministry of Defence, Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya appointed Brigadier (Rtd.) J. N. Mururi, Brigadier (Rtd.) P. T. Ibeere, and Brigadier (Rtd.) D. C. Bartonjo to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC), each for a three-year period starting April 25, 2025. Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Edward Cherop Kimosop was also appointed to the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for a one-year term beginning May 1, 2025.
In the water sector, Cabinet Secretary Eric Muriithi Muuga extended Engineer James Wainaina’s tenure on the Board of Directors of Athi Water Works Development Agency for another three years.
Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor appointed Agatha Lutala Karani, Sarah Wanjiru Migwi, and Dan Okoth Aceda to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Copyright Board, each serving for three years from April 25, 2025. The new appointments aim to bolster the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights in Kenya.
Meanwhile, Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua appointed six new members to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, each to serve a three-year term. The appointees are Elizabeth Chesang, Joseph Etyang, Freddah L. Seleto, Hannah N. Njeri, Duncan M. Chengo, and Ambassador Aggrey Shitsama.
In the education sector, Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba named Margaret C. Koech, Joakim Mulaa, and Daniel Mutai to the Council of Ol’lessos National Polytechnic, with their three-year term beginning on February 25, 2025.
The Public Service Commission, chaired by Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, extended the mandate of the Technical Committee responsible for recommending terms and conditions of service for staff at the National Intelligence and Research University (NIRU) until June 30, 2025.
At the National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi reappointed Edward N. Kobuthi (Dr.), Irene Njeri Wanyoike, Celine Anyango Orata, David J. O. Nyakang’o, and Ambassador Wellington Pakia Godo to the Privatisation Commission for a further one-year term.
Lastly, Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome made several leadership changes, appointing Eunice Njoki Macharia as Chairperson of the Estate Agents Registration Board for a one-year term. Wahome also appointed Mary Njeri Kamunyu and Regina Njoki Njue to the Land Surveyors’ Board for two years and named Daniel George Ruhara Maina as Chairperson of the Valuers Registration Board for a three-year term.
