Gunmen broke into a church in Suleja town in Niger State in the early hours of Saturday and abducted a pastor and two others.
City & Crime learnt that the attackers stormed Overhill Church behind Niger Motel in the Japap area of Suleja around 1 am when worshippers were observing a vigil.
A vigilante in the community, Idris Abdullahi, said, “We became aware of their presence after several gunshots.
“We responded with our cartridge guns for some time before being overwhelmed by their superior arms; forcing us to retreat and take cover.’’
“As the kidnappers were leaving the area, they went into the church where sounds of drums were coming from and abducted the church leader known as Mama-Comfort.
The attackers fled with their three victims around 2 am on noticing the presence of soldiers who arrived from Zuma Barracks, Suleja,” he added.
