Nairobi Woman Conned Ksh300,000 By Nigerian With ‘Super Powers’

A Nigerian citizen is being held in custody after being accused of scamming a Nairobi entrepreneur of Sh300,000 pretending to have supernatural powers to multiply the money.

Kennedy Atinse, the accused, was charged with acquiring money by deception after lying to Esther that he would triple the amount of money she had given him.

Makadara Law Court chief magistrate Monica Kivuti was informed that the accused told the complainant’s brother that he had a lucrative business idea which could triple the money.

The complainant and the accused discussed the proposal in a rented house. At the time, Atinse said that the lady would make Ksh600,000 in a single day.

The complaint then left her house, intending to return the next day.

She stated that she found the accused mixing what seemed like money with chemicals that changed colour to red.

When she questioned, Atinse told her to give him time to “ask the lab technician why the colour had changed,”

At this point, the complainant realised the accused had duped her and left with the cash.

When she looked for him two days later Atinse told her that he required an additional Ksh180,000 to clean the cash.

He denied the charge and will remain in custody until April 2o.
