Night Guard In Monica Kimani Murder Testifies

A security guard was presented in court to explain why his national ID card was found at Lamuria Gardens, where Monica Kimani was murdered.

Dominic Haruni told the court on Tuesday that on September 17, he went to conduct some construction work at Royal Park Estate and lost his ID.

Jacque Maribe, a former TV journalist who lived with Jowie Irungu at Royal Park Estate, was charged with Monica’s murder on September 19, 2018.

Haruni works as a security guard for Lavington Security, according to Justice Grace Nzioka.

He needed money to travel in September 2018, so he secured construction work at Royal Park after filing for leave from work.

Haruni traveled to Royal Park with a buddy on September 17 and as they entered the estate, everyone left their IDs at the main gate, according to the court.

However, when he finished his day’s work, his ID was nowhere to be located, despite the fact that the others had received theirs.

He was advised to leave and that if they found his ID, they would notify him.

He stated that he left his phone number and that they would contact him as soon as it was located.

Haruni explained that he had a sick child and went to the hospital to be with him before traveling upcountry.

When he returned to work as a security guard at the University a few weeks later, sleuths from the DCI went hunting for him.

On cross examination, he stated that he was unfamiliar with Maribe, Jowie, or Monica, and that he had never encountered Maribe or Jowie previous to this case.
