Nairobi Metropolitan services deputy director of medical services Musa Ramadhan Mohammed has pleaded not guilty to two counts related to child trafficking.
He appeared before chief magistrate Martha Mutuku in Milimani law courts Nairobi.
He is accused that conspiring with other accused 1st respondent Makallah Fred Leparan and Celina Awour in diverse dates between March 1 and November 16 2020 at mama lucy hospital in Ebakasi, of trafficking children contrary to persons trafficking act of 2020.
In the second count Muhammed with Celina Awuor knowing of Fred Makalla act that was designed to traffic children from the facility failed to use all reasonable cause to prevent child trafficking.
He was released on sh 200,000 cash bail or a bond of shs 500,000
Awuor the third accused person was released on a cash bail of Sh200, 000 or a bond of Sh500, 000
Mohammed failed to take plea on Monday as his lawyers informed the court of his sickness, and had been hospitalized at Kenyatta National hospital.
The co-accused and main supect in the syndicate Makallah is facing five counts and was slapped with a kshs 1 million cash bail or shs 2 million bond
Makallah and Awuor were charged on Monday before the same court.
Council Tj Kajwang is will lead the defense team with Kenya Medical association also enjoined on behalf of Muhammed.
The matter will come up on December 9th for mentioning.
Others who were arrested alongside the three including the CEO mama Lucy and two others did not take plea and were acquitted after the state failed to prosecute them for lack of evidence linking them to the scam.
