New Stage — NMS To Test Run Green Park Terminus

The Nairobi Metropolitan is gearing for one of Nairobi’s historic change in public transport policy, where matatus will be guided onto the new terminus built at the former Lunar Park.

The test run, slated to run on April 27th will feature a test passenger drop off and pick up at the newly built terminus.

The test run will take place between 6.00 am and 9.00 am for vehicles streaming in from Ngong Road, and Lang’ata road.

Affected matatus include those plying the Ngong, Lang’ata, Ngumo, Kawangware and Kibera routes.

The state-of-art facility adopts a similar design to the Greyhound Terminus in New York United States, with most of its structures already complete including pavements and bus shades.

NMS Director of Transport and Public Works Engineer Michael Ochieng, pointed out that the terminus will be in two parts, with the first part next to Haile Selassie and the other one along Bunyala Road where people will be able to cross using the footbridge into the CBD.

The park will also accommodate boda boda and taxi operators. NMS is optimistic that the terminus will be open for public use in March 2021.
