Outgoing Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has been sworn in as the new Director General of the National Intelligence Service.
This follows a near-unanimous approval by Parliament on Tuesday for Haji’s nomination as the new NIS boss.
Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala was the only dissenting vote.
Haji succeeds Major-General (Rtd) Philip Wachira Kameru who has held the position for over eight years.
He took his oath at State House on Wednesday in a ceremony presided by President William Ruto.
Kameru was appointed Director-General in September 2014 after an illustrious military career; having risen through the ranks to the position of Director of Military Intelligence in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
