The National Police Service (NPS) has condemned an incident in which National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officers were seen in a dramatic pursuit chasing an errant driver.
According to NPS, the incident is being investigated after the motorist led patrol cops on a reckless chase, endangering the lives of other motorists.
“As we continue to review the incident for corrective action, we condemn the irresponsible behaviour,” the NPS noted.
In the video that has gone viral on social media, a motorist in a white car is seen ignoring the traffic officers who were flagging him down.
The motorist was hell-bent on escaping the police dragnet on an unknown road.
In a tweet on Thursday, the NPS said that all motorists, road users, and police officers are expected to be rational on the road.
“We acknowledge that the essence of road safety is to promote sanity and responsibility whilst on public roads, and this is a basic expectation placed on all motorists and road users, police included,” the NPS added.
