Mwangi Githiomi, Senator from Nyandarua has defected from the ruling Jubilee Party to join Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance. 

Senator Githiomi was welcomed to DP Ruto’s Karen office by Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata and MPs Ndindi Nyoro and Rigathi Gachagua. 

“We’re getting larger and better. Welcome to the Hustler Nation, Senator Mwangi Githiomi,” DP Ruto tweeted. 

He is the latest politician from once-Jubilee-loyal central Kenya to vow loyalty to Ruto, a trend President Uhuru Kenyatta is trying to reverse, having chosen ODM leader Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.
