A Nyeri MCA was among 17 people arrested inside a bar on Friday evening in Nyeri County.
Rware Ward MCA, Paul Kanyari and his personal assistant were arrested while enjoying themselves in a guest house known as Laquizine in King’ong’o area.
Police said they acted on tipoff from the residents in the neighborhood.
The offenders will face law fully and will also be subjected to a mandatory quarantine of 14 days.
Police have urged members of the public to be vigilant and report anyone violating the covid-19 safety regulations.
Yesterday Ministry of interior Cabinet Secretary warned that police are to crack into neighborhoods that are still violating the rule on curfew hours and social distancing.
In Nairobi some residents have turned their estates into drinking zones past curfew hours.
Some of these estates include; Kilimani, Buruburu, Lang’ata, Ruai, Kayole, Githurai, Embakasi and Ruaka.
Last week a magistrate and colonel were among people arrested in bar in Embakasi past 7pm.
