Machakos County Governor-Aspirant Nzioka Waita has pledged to revolutionize education standards in the county if he is elected.
Waita, who anchors his bid on transforming Machakos into a city, said the education sector must be transformed to restore dignity.
“We will restore the dignity of our teachers & uplift the standards of education in our County starting with ECDE & Vocational Training.”
Nzioka Waita spoke during a consultative forum that included KUPPET, KEPSHA, and other education stakeholders in Machakos.
The former State House Chief Of Staff pledged to make the Machakos ECD program the best in Kenya by ensuring a good teacher-to-student ratio, well-equipped classes, and a feeding program for the children.
On her part, Machakos County Speaker Hon. Florence Mwangangi (Suluhu) said their government will front for resources to be allocated to the education sector.
“The incoming Governor and I are committed to Education and placing education where it belongs. We are committed to the full implementation of the MoU and much more,” Suluhu added.
The duo are on race to succeed Dr. Alfred Mutua, who is exiting at the expiry of his two terms.
The duo is in a tight race against Wiper party’s Wavinya Ndeti, and UDA’s Johnstone Muthama.
